The Core Trust was established in 1984 by a heroin using musician, and some friends who were squatting at a building in Marylebone...

At the time, he could not find addiction treatment, other than the substitute prescription of methadone. Driven by his need to become drug-free he approached Westminster Council with a bold suggestion on hearing of the values of psychotherapy in addiction treatment.

He asked Westminster Council for the building in order to set up a psychotherapeutic counselling service for drug users and alcoholics. His request was granted and then later, in 1991, Princess Diana officially relaunched the charity running fundraising dinners in order to make this happen.
